Lotus Evora Uses Aluminium for Performance
After thirteen years Lotus has finally added a new model to its existing line-up of exotic machinery like the Elise roadster and the Exige, which was a coupe version of the Elise. It uses aluminium extensively for enhanced performance. The new model is called the Lotus Evora and is the result of five years of hard work by the British car-maker. Evora pumps out 280PS of power thrown at 6,400rpm and 342Nm of torque developed at 4,700rpm on a lightweight and efficient aluminium chasis. The 3.5 litre V6, sourced from Toyota, midmounted transverse engine is packed inside a modular lightweight bonded aluminium chassis and the steering on the Evora is hydraulically assisted. The lightweight forged aluminium wishbone comes factory fitted with Bilstein high performance dampers and Eibach springs that present the car with impeccable handling characteristics. During its tests at the tough Nurburgring circuit, it not only lived up to the expectations of the Lotus chassis engineers with its nimble handling but also surprised the spectators present at the circuit. The Evora also represents Lotus core values of performance through light weight and efficiency.
